August 11, 2010 - Though the deadline to sign up for disaster case management services through the RISE program was July 31, in light of a possible extension we are currently placing people on a waiting list. If you are a Hurricane Ike survivor still needing assistance in recovering from the storm, you are encouraged to contact RISE to be placed on the list, and you will receive a call to complete an intake if the extension is granted.

What is Rise?
RISE is a disaster case management program, operated by Lutheran Social Services Disaster Response and created by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) with a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help Texans recover after Hurricane Ike. RISE is designed to provide help, support and advocacy for survivors of Hurricane Ike as they recover from the disaster.
RISE disaster case management is available in 16 counties of southeast Texas through a network of local agencies. RISE case managers work in partnership with hurricane survivors to assess their disaster-related needs, develop long-term recovery plans, and connect survivors to available resources to meet their disaster-related needs.
