Deadline approaches for Hurricane Ike case management services

AUSTIN -- Hurricane Ike survivors who still need assistance in recovering from the storm are encouraged to contact the Recovery for Ike Survivors Enterprise (RISE) program as soon as possible to register for case management services, as the deadline to enroll in the program is July 31, 2010. 

“We want to ensure that anyone who still needs these services is able to receive them,” said Heather Gatlin, Vice President for Lutheran Social Services Disaster Response, the organization that leads the RISE program.  “We are encouraging people who still have unmet needs from Hurricane Ike to learn more about our program and to consider registering for our services.”

The RISE program, which is funded by FEMA and administered by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, is a disaster case management program designed to provide help, support and advocacy for survivors of Hurricane Ike as they recover from the disaster. RISE disaster case management services are available through a collaborative network of 10 local agencies in 16 counties of southeast Texas, including Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Hardin, Jefferson, Liberty, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, Orange, Walker, Waller and Washington.
