SSBG program
Lutheran Social Services Disaster Response (LSSDR) has been awarded a $10.7 million Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) funded by the Houston-Galveston Area Council to provide unmet needs funds for Hurricane Ike survivors in 10 counties, including Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Walker and Waller.
To be eligible for to receive these funds, individuals must:

Be a survivor of Hurricane Ike

Reside in one of the 10 counties in the service area

Currently be receiving case management services from a qualified case management agency

Have an unmet need related to Hurricane Ike
Funds from the SSBG grant will be distributed through local long term recovery committees to address the unmet needs of Ike survivors, including but not limited to furniture, appliances and utility assistance.
In counties where no long term recovery committee exists, funding requests will be processed directly through LSSDR.
